Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end
Just The World today
Hey Friends!
I’m sending this out early because Sunday morning I’ll be running a trail race in Machias. It’s over an hour away. I’m going to skip my usual preamble and go straight to your tarot card for the week so I can get a good nights sleep beforehand. I always get excited the night before a race or a long run in a new place and usually sleep like shit. But I don’t mind because it’s a “night before Christmas when you’re a kid” kind of excitement. You know what I mean?
I’m writing this post using Substack’s new in-app posting feature, and I like it so far. Idk how to create headings here, so let’s forget about it. I also can’t schedule the post to go out tomorrow morning, which is fine. I guess.
Here’s the tarot card I drew for the week of September 29:
You’ve come to the end of an important cycle in your life and are poised to begin something new. This card symbolizes endings and major milestones. Maybe you’re changing careers, finishing a course of study, or moving on from a situation, place, or relationship that no longer jives with your vibe.
Take a moment to bask in your success and celebrate your achievements.
A lot of emotions come up when something ends, even if it’s something we’re happy to be done with. Now is a good time to reflect on what you’re going to miss, and what you’re delighted to never have to do again.
I’m talking to myself now because this card REALLY hits close to home. I just finished my last day delivering mail. I have more to share about that, and will probably put it all in a Substack post.
Jason and I celebrated the milestone with pizza (Zeppas in Ellsworth is so good). He also surprised me with dairy- free Ben & Jerry’s and a bouquet of flowers. Always a nice touch.
Wish me luck as I continue the celebration out on the trail tomorrow! But first, sleep.
Before sleep, I want to dedicate this post to the memory of Maggie Smith. Wands Up for the most badass Hogwarts teacher ever. We love you, Maggie.
