Get Ready for the Spiritual Awakening at the End of the Tunnel
Nine of Wands and The High Priest
Hey Friends!
We’ve made it to the point in the year where the fun part of summer has passed and I start looking forward to Halloween. The time between the Summer Solstice and my birthday always feels magical, like anything is possible during those long days. It’s light out when I wake up, and still not completely dark when I go to sleep. Gardens bloom. The air is abuzz with electric potential.
But now… now all that’s left is Angry August. Exhausting heat. Traffic for days. So many tourists moving like molasses. Empty store shelves. And bugs.
The limitless potential of early summer has given way to the pressure to get all our projects wrapped up before winter. You may wonder whether August is too early to start planning for winter. In Maine, the answer is no.
And so I find myself daydreaming of crisp autumn air, colorful trees, and the return of the dark, cool nights that call for fires. Mmmmm, I can’t wait!
The cards I pulled for this week — technically, I only pulled one but another popped out early in the shuffle and it happened to be the same card I looked at when I turned the deck over and I thought that was significant — support these themes of feeling burnt out but still having work to do, and the promise of new possibilities. So, let’s get into it!
Nine of Wands and The High Priest
Nine of Wands is the card that popped out while I was shuffling. Usually, when this happens, I take this as a sign to keep the card out. This one happens to resonate perfectly with how I was feeling at the time of the draw.
The Nine of Wands often comes up when we’re in the final push of a long journey, creative project, or heavy effort. It carries the energy of struggling to get through a trying task. It reminds me of the last couple miles of an ultramarathon. Specifically, this card makes me think of a particular 50K I ran. I turned a corner about 1.5 miles from the finish line, and a little kid was there with his family, cheering people on. He observed my utter exhaustion and yelled, “You’re almost finished! More than halfway there!”
I laughed, knowing I was more than 95% through the race, but the momentary thought of being only about halfway finished was enough to make me want to cry.
The Nine of Wands is that little kid, urging you toward the finish and providing you with a moment of reprieve to allow the momentum of all you’ve already accomplished carry you forward. Trust that you’re closer to your goal than ever before.
The High Priest, commonly known as the Hierophant, is a deeply spiritual card that represents a learning opportunity. Paired with the Nine, I’d say there’s a spiritual awakening waiting for you at the end of this arduous journey.
Unlike its counterpart, The High Priestess, the knowledge that comes from this card is passed down from those who came before, and not your intuition. If you’ve been thinking about taking a class, working with a coach or mentor, or just hitting the books real hard, now is the time my Padawan.
That’s all for now, my friends. I hope the messages of these cards brings you closer to your wildest dreams. As always, take what resonates with you, and leave the rest.
Love you!
