It's Time for a Change
new site title, same crazy writer

I changed my Substack title and URL! It’s now The Write Lauren, at laurensteinheimer.substack.com!
Why the sudden change? The short answer: it was time.
The slightly longer answer is multifaceted:
I’m learning to love and accept all the letters in my lengthy German surname. For years, I’ve avoided using my name in URLs because I believed it would be too difficult to spell and remember. After using this name to build my writing portfolio over the past 10 years, I’m finally convinced that Lauren Steinheimer is easy enough for the write people to remember, and this makes me easier to find.
Onward, not backward! I mentioned in my last post that I’ve been reading through my old blogs. Well, action potential was the name of the first WordPress blog I started in 2009. The title was relevant to the work I was doing at the time (neuroscience research) but the blog was still all about my personal life. I’m no longer working in neuroscience, and though I’m still interested in the subject, it’s not something I feel the need to brand myself with moving forward.
This is my creative outlet. I started this Substack as a way to share memories and musings outside of social media. The new title is a reminder that this is my playground, not a place to establish myself as an expert on anything.
Thank you so much for reading, searching, subscribing, and supporting me through all the twists and turns I’ve taken through 15 years of oversharing with the internet!
