We’re nearing the end of 2020 (Thank Goddess), and I’ve emerged from my quarantine chrysalis, ready to share my writing publicly again.
For those who don’t know me, I’m Lauren Steinheimer. For the past 6 years, I’ve been blogging sporadically at irunintotrees.com, branding myself as a freelance writer, trail runner, and relentless savage.
Much fun as it was, irunintotrees doesn’t feel like a good fit anymore. For one thing, I’m on hiatus from ultramarathons and competitive running of all kinds.
But it’s more than just that…
Like many other introverted creatives, (I see you!) I’ve viewed quarantine as an opportunity rather than punishment.
A chance to reconnect with who I was before I became so busy; to release aspects of identity that no longer fit and expand into a greater sense of purpose.
Aside from trail running, which I still adore, there are so many interesting topics I love to write about. In fact, my most popular, most creatively satisfying posts from that blog weren’t about running at all.
They were about mental health and self love.
Sharing my (ongoing) mental health journey and the various resources that have helped me learn to love myself has resonated with more people than race reports and gear reviews ever will.
Sure, running long distances through mountains, deserts, and beaches was a huge part of my healing process, and for that I’m eternally grateful.
But my passion is to create a space on the internet to delve into the juicier topics that so many of us shy away from talking about.
Action Potential is my first tangible step toward whatever else this may become.
Fun fact: Action Potential was the name of my first blog before I started irunintotrees. Before I was an ultrarunner, I was on the path to becomming a neuroscientist.
An action potential is the spark that triggers a neuron (brain cell) to fire.
It’s the start of everything.
As of right now, I’m planning to send a weekly or biweekly newsletter, mostly concerning topics of self love, mental health, and personal development. You can expect everything from neuropsychology to astrology, energy healing to exercise science.
I hope you’ll join me for this wild ride.
